Miriam Mackie

Miriam Mackie
Composer Miriam Mackie founded Illumination in 2006, initially to record some of her work. (The resulting CDAnd we rejoiced, is available via the links to her webpages.) The choir's first concert was at the Unitarian Chapel in Hampstead later that year, featuring both early and recent choral music.

Though involvement in music has been life-long, Miriam returned to composition in the last decade. Her work for voices, piano, organ and strings has been performed at venues across London, including Southwark Cathedral, St Bride's Fleet Street, and St James's Piccadilly, where she also contributes liturgical music.  Illumination continues to perform her work, which has also been sung by Camden Chamber Choir and the Meljon Singers. In 2012, her string quartet Three four was premiered by the Jubilee Quartet.

Miriam continues to study composition, currently with composer Edward Nesbit.
